There may be times when you observe a certain process on a Parallels Virtuozzo Containers (PVC) server using a major part or a high percentage of the CPU resources.

The following steps outline an easy way to determine which VE is running that particular process.

There are two ways to do it:

  1. Using graphical interface (Windows Task Manager), which has the CTID column included in the 'Processes' tab.

  2. Using command-line utilities.

    Example of usage is below:

    • Find the needed process and its ID:

      C:\>tasklist | findstr pvamn
      pvamnd.exe 4856 3 61,120 K
    • Find out its origin with the help of vzquery tool:

      C:\>vzquery p2v 4856
        Process ID: 4856
        Session ID: 3 (ROOT)
CT ID: 50 <-------- here you get the container ID
