Plesk is sending a key update deferral notification (as below) even after a valid license key has been installed:
Subject: Plesk Panel key update deferral notification Unable to update. An error occurred while processing your key. You can try to update it later.
The Plesk daily maintenance script establishes a connection with the Licensing server and initiates periodic license update procedures based on the current date and the last update time from the
/etc/sw/keys/registry.xml file. A successful license update procedure
/etc/sw/keys/registry.xml is being updated with the new license update time. On failure, the above notification is sent.
Troubleshoot the issue using the script test.php from the attached archive. Upload this file to the server and execute it as in the following example (applicable on Linux platform):
# /usr/local/psa/bin/sw-engine-pleskrun -f ./test.php Result code: 2 Description: Key update disabled Status update: Not required
The above example output indicates that the license lifetime update is disabled (in this case a trial license is installed on the server) and no further license status update is required.
Note: The file test.php uses the framework from the Plesk installation and does not require any external dependencies.
After applying Plesk 10.4.4 MU#13 key update errors are always logged to
If you need to log key updates that occur with no errors, set the debug level of logging by adding the following lines to
[log] priority = 7
If the Plesk license installed on the server contains PowerPack, it is possible the following error will be logged in the panel.log file
Notify: Unable to update . An error occurred while processing your key. You can try updating it later. Result code: 2 Preparation error Result desc: Product "kav-unix" not installed
In this case, put the
key-handler.so file (which is different for Plesk version 10.4 and versions 10.0-10.3) from the
key-handler.zip archive into
/usr/lib/plesk-9.0/ on 32-bit systems and in
/usr/lib64/plesk-9.0/ on 64-bit systems.
