After submitting an API request for creating an alias, the domain is misconfigured and down. The corresponding record is not added after the API request to the ip_vhosts_bootstrap.conf configuration file:
# grep /usr/local/psa/admin/conf/ip_vhosts_bootstrap.conf
# /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/httpdmng --reconfigure-all
# grep /usr/local/psa/admin/conf/ip_vhosts_bootstrap.conf
Include '/var/www/vhosts/'

If a domain alias is created by using the /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/domalias utility, operation finishes without such failure.

The problem is caused by wrong permissions set for the 'conf' directory:
# ls -ld /var/www/vhosts/
drwxr-x--- 2 root root 4096 Apr 18 06:20 /var/www/vhosts/

The group must be 'psaserv'. Correct it with the following command:
# chown root:psaserv /var/www/vhosts/
