Symptoms

Parallels Containers installation fails on the PVA agent installation stage. The Parallels Containers installation log file /root/vzinstall.log contains the below strings:
[ERROR 34] Failed to assign IP address to Service Container

Error: Failed to install PVA Agent. Please archive the /vz/pva-install/pva_set folder and contact the Parallels support team.
logger: Error: Failed to install PVA Agent. Please archive the /vz/pva-install/pva_set folder and contact the Parallels support team.

File /etc/modprobe.conf contains the below strings:
# cat /etc/modprobe.conf|grep ipv6
alias ipv6 off
options ipv6 disable=1

Cause

Parallels Containers installator is trying to assign both IPv4 and IPv6 IP addresses onto the Service Container while setting up PVA agent. This operation requires the system to support IPv6. Since such support is disabled in RHEL/CentOS 5.6 by default, it fails.

Resolution

Modify /etc/modprobe.conf file as below, reboot the system and retry Parallels Containers installation
# cat /etc/modprobe.conf|grep ipv6
alias ipv6 on
options ipv6 disable=0
