Virtual machine with numeric-only name cannot be deleted using pctl:
~# pctl create 1001 --type v --distribution win-2008
Creating the virtual machine...
Generate the VM configuration for win-2008.
The VM has been successfully created.

~# pctl destroy 1001
Container configuration file does not exist

There are several ways out:
  • Use Parallels Management Console to delete the virtual machine
  • Use Parallels Virtual Automation (if the server is registered in PVA MN)
  • Use prlctl instead:
    ~# prlctl destroy 1001
  • Use UUID instead of name:
    ~# pctl destroy 8fe63e09-255e-4c7f-8b7e-1d80e466416a
To find out UUID of the virtual machine use prlctl list -i VMNAME command.
