Product installation fails for no apparent reason.


In order to proceed with further troubleshooting, installation has to be repeated with the actions log enabled. This can be done in two ways:

Option 1:

Repeat the installation using the msiexec tool in the following way:
msiexec.exe /I productXXXX.msi /l*v <log-file_name>

Option 2:

If it is not possible to use the option mentioned above, perform the following configuration in registry. Run regedit tool and add two entries to the node HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer:

Once this configuration is complete, all actions for MSI will be logged in the files which reside in %TEMP%\MSI*.log Do not forget to revert to these changes when troubleshooting is accomplished in order to avoid wasting disk space.
