Symptoms

On Parallels Virtuozzo Containers for Windows container fails to get mounted or starts with the following error:

C:\>vzctl mount 4575
Parallels Virtuozzo Containers API function call 'fsresizer_resize' failed : attempting repair disk
Parallels Virtuozzo Containers API function call 'fsresizer_resize' failed
Parallels Virtuozzo Containers API function call 'resize' failed
Cannot set disk quota for container 4575

Cause

Most likely, the barrier value for the disk quota was changed to a value smaller than the used disk space inside the container :

C:\>vzquota stat 4575

     disk resource usage hardlimit path
     C: 1k-blocks 251168 195312 C:\vz\Private\4575\root.efd

Such a situation may occur when the incorrect disk space limit was specified for a container or a configuration file of the container was edited manually.

Resolution

Increase the disk space hard limit for the container to a value larger than the already used disk space:

vzctl set CTID --save --diskspace NEWHARDLIMIT

Real-life examlpe:

C:\>vzquota stat 4575

     disk resource usage hardlimit path
     C: 1k-blocks 251168 195312 C:\vz\Private\4575\root.efd

C:>vzctl set 4575 --diskspace 300000 --drive C:
Command 'set' is successfully finished

C:\>vzquota stat 4575

     disk resource usage hardlimit path
     C: 1k-blocks 251168 300000 C:\vz\Private\4575\root.efd

C:\>vzctl mount 4575
Container is mounted

C:\>vzlist 4575

     VEID NPROC STATUS IP_ADDR HOSTNAME
     4575 -- mounted 10.11.12.13 CT4575
