I have domains with mailboxes and mailing list(s) on my Parallels Plesk Panel (PP) server that I have just migrated to another server. After the migration, all mail list members received welcome messages about being added to their mail list again. That is confusing for my customers; how do I disable those messages?

The wrong Mailman configuration was used during the migration.

The issue will be fixed in a future release of our product.

You may subscribe to the Parallels Panel Products Updates mailing list if you wish to receive notifications about the latest product updates, new version announcements, promotions, and more for Parallels Plesk Panel, Parallels Small Business Panel, and Parallels Plesk Billing.

To disable welcome notifications from being sent to mail list subscribers, you need to set the value of send_welcome_msg in the Mailman configuration to 0 on the destination server before the migration:
1. Back up the original file (just in case):
# cp /usr/lib/mailman/bin/add_members /usr/lib/mailman/bin/add_members_backup

2. Then replace the red line in the /usr/lib/mailman/bin/add_members file:
166 listname = args[0].lower().strip()
167 nfile = None
168 dfile = None
169 send_welcome_msg = None
170 admin_notif = None
send_welcome_msg = 0

3. Restart Mailman:
# /etc/init.d/mailman restart

4. Now you may start the migration.

Additional Information

This flag controls whether or not the welcome message is sent to new subscribers.
