A domain was created in Parallels Plesk 9.x and some files were uploaded to its document root directory. However, when opening the site in a web-browser, the default Plesk page is shown.

A possible reason for this is that some redirection mechanism (the .htaccess file, for example) is redirecting requests from domain.tld (where domain.tld is the name of the affected domain) to www.domain.tld, but the www.domain alias was not created during the domain's creation. For this reason, whenever domain.tld is browsed, Apache serves the contents of the default virtual host because there is no virtual host named www.domain.tld.

To rectify the issue, please log in to Plesk under admin and browse Domains > domain.tld > Domain Administrator Access > check the WWW > click OK.
