  • Applies to:
  • Plesk 10.4 for Linux/Unix

Symptoms vary and may include one or more of the following:

- Parallels Plesk Panel (PP) Web Interface fails to open
- Websites fail to open
- Webmail fails to open

Usually, the error is displayed as follows:

404 page not found

The issue is most likely caused by a faulty FastCGI installation on the server, originating from manual configuration editing or data corruption.

If FastCGI is broken for PP Control Panel, try reconfiguring the PP website with this command:

"%plesk_bin%"\websrvmng.exe --configure-plesk-website

If FastCGI is broken for a particular domain on your sever, try reconfiguring the domain with this command:

websrvmng --reconfigure-vhost

The command should correct handler settings in IIS for the domain.
If PP is running on Windows Server 2003 and the issue still persists after running the above command, make sure that C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\fcgiext.ini is configured correctly. It should be configured with the PHP installation paths and types used by PP and have domains similar to those below:

ExePath=C:\Program Files (x86)\Parallels\Plesk\Additional\PleskPHP5\php-cgi.exe
ExePath=C:\Program Files (x86)\Parallels\Plesk\Additional\PleskPHP53\php-cgi.exe
