Information

An EID is the Environment ID used by the Parallels Virtual Automation (PVA) Agent to identify a Hardware Node. This EID must be unique among all Hardware Nodes, containers, and virtual machines in the PVA-managed infrastructure. This article describes how to regenerate the EID for a Hardware Node.

Resolution

  1. Get the current EID:
    telnet localhost 4433
    <packet xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" id="0" priority="0" version="4.5.0">
    <origin>vzclient2-304ab1c0-c4b0-474d-8b5a-1c6e4121dbce</origin>
    <target>agent</target>
    <data>
    <ok/>
    <eid>304ab1c0-c4b0-474d-8b5a-1c6e4121dbce</eid>
    </data>
    </packet>
    ^C
  2. Generate a new one:

    On Linux

    uuidgen
    d6c4188d-de0c-4062-98cf-7969f42af218

    On Windows

    newvpsid
    d6c4188d-de0c-4062-98cf-7969f42af218

  3. Replace old EID in vzagent.conf with the new one. See the following article for locating vzagent.conf:
    6981 PVA troubleshooting

  4. Restart PVA Agent:

    On Linux

    pvaagent restart

    On Windows

    sc pvaagent stop && sc pvaagent start
  5. Verify that the EID is changed:
    telnet localhost 4433
    <packet xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" id="0" priority="0" version="4.5.0">
    <origin>vzclient2-d6c4188d-de0c-4062-98cf-7969f42af218</origin>
    <target>agent</target>
    <data>
    <ok/>
    <eid>d6c4188d-de0c-4062-98cf-7969f42af218</eid>
    </data>
    </packet>
    ^C
