Synopsis: New Parallels Server Bare Metal 5.0 tools update provides
fixes related to Container and virtual machines management
	           functionality.
Issue date: 2012-05-25
Product: Parallels Server Bare Metal
Keywords: 'Ubuntu' 'migration'
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. What's Included in This Update

New packages for Parallels Server Bare Metal provide user-level tool
fixes for managing Containers and virtual machines.

2. Problem Description

The new packages introduce the following features:

- The ability to create and manage Containers based on the Ubuntu 12.04 EZ
  template.

- The ability to use SSH public keys infrastructure for an authentication on
remote server on the virtual machine migration.

This update contains fixes for the following issues:

- Parallels Server service may crash under certain conditions (#PSBM-13150).

- Virtual machine may hang on stop if it were uptime more than 2 months
  (#PSBM-11748).

- Containers created via Parallels Operation Automation may fail to start
  (#PCLIN-30853).

- After upgrade, legacy Containers could run with unlimited physpages
  (#PCLIN-30732).

- A second attempt to migrate a physical server to a Container may fail
  (#PCLIN-30668).

- Removing an IPv6 address from a stopped Container could fail (#PCLIN-30868).

All Parallels Server Bare Metal users are advised to update their tools
packages.

3. Affected Components

 - 'parallels-server' is a set of binaries for managing virtual machines.

 - 'vzctl' is the primary tool for managing Containers. This tool is used
to create new Containers, start and stop them, configure their parameters,
   etc.

 - 'vzmigrate' is a utility for migrating Containers between physical servers.

 - 'deb2vzdeb' is a utility to convert Debian packages to the Virtuozzo format.

4. Obtaining the Update

You can download and install this tools update using the 'vzup2date' utility
included in the Parallels Server Bare Metal distribution.

5. Installing the Update

Use the 'vzup2date' command to install the new Parallels Server Bare Metal
 tools packages.

The update does require Parallels Server Bare Metal restart or system
 reboot.
