While setting default backup folder credentials in down-level logon name format (DOMAIN\username) for a Parallels Virtuozzo Containers for Windows host, the domain name is inserted twice:
C:\Users\Administrator>vzabackup --set-folder --backup-folder-path \\\storage\testback --backup-folder-login "local\Administrator" --backup-folder
-passwd "PassworD" localhost

There is a known issue with setting down-level logon names via the command-line.

There are two possible ways to work around the issue:
  1. Set Default Backup Location via Parallels Management Console
  2. Set Default Backup Location via PVA API request:
    <packet xmlns:ns2="" xmlns:ns1="" xmlns:xsi="">
    <login xsi:type="ns1:auth_nameType">
    <name>base64-encoded user name</name>
    <domain>base64-encoded domain name</domain>
    <password>base64-encoded password</password>
