1. Introduction

Parallels Automation for Web Presence Standalone Edition is a software suite for hosting providers. It includes the following components:

  • The latest version of Web Presence Builder - website design and promotion tool.
  • API for integration into a hosting company's infrastructure.
This solution is designed for hosting service providers who have their own shared hosting control panel and billing system, and who want to offer Web Presence Builder to their customers.

The following list describes the changes that were introduced in Web Presence Builder 11.0.11.

  1. [+] Extended language support for third-party components. Users can choose almost any language for their website in the editor's Website Settings, and this language will be used by all third-party components that support it.

  2. [+] Right-To-Left languages support. Users can choose a Right-To-Left language for their website, and their website will be fully RTL-compliant. Note that this ability does not affect website editor itself, only websites.

  3. [+] Option to synchronize sidebar and content height. Users can enable synchronization of sidebar and content heights to ensure that both sidebars and content always reach the footer. This functionality is available on the Design tab.

  4. [+] Website name and slogan outline. Users can make website name and slogan stand out by enabling outline effect in corresponding properties.

  5. [+] Ability to retrieve a list of websites via API. Server administrators can use an API call to see the list of all existing websites with some of their properties. Read more about this functionality.

  6. [*]  New color scheme names. Color schemes now have human-readable names and are more fun to read.

  7. [*]  Improved design of the website topic selection screen. The topic selection screen was redesigned to make it more focused and to make the Search function more visible. The website name and website topic language options were moved to the Prefill Your Website screen.

  8. [*]  Making modules unavailable in the editor. Administrators can prevent customers from using certain modules in the editor. Modules can be hidden for the whole installation, not per-site. Learn more about it.

  9. [*]  Prohibiting users from removing their sites. Administrators can prevent customers from deleting their sites from the editor by removing the Remove Site button. Learn more about it.

  10. [*]  WPB now displays proper and detailed error message when opened in unsupported browsers.

  11. [*]  Shortened sharing links from YouTube ( can now be used in the Embedded Video modules.

  12. [-]  Empty titles in blog posts are not collapsed anymore, so users will have easier time clicking on them to provide a new title.

  13. [-]  Resolved the issue with lack of "e-mail" text in some website topics that affected SEO.

  14. [-]  Resolved the issue that made it difficult to drag and drop a module between two other modules.

  15. [-]  Resolved the issue with site's layout displayed incorrectly in the editor after design modification, unless the editor window was reloaded.

  16. [-]  Resolved the issue with some editor pages not fitting entirely the screens of monitors with low vertical resolution.

  17. [-]  Resolved the issue with notification mail not sent after website visitors submit Contact Form.

  18. [-]  Resolved the issue with notification mail being sent from unknown address if the E-Mail field was removed and then added to Contact Form.

  19. [-]  Resolved the issue with Contact Form not supporting internationalized e-mail addresses.

  20. [-]  Resolved the issue with Disqus module not working with Swedish localization.

  21. [-]  Resolved the issue with image order in Image Gallery being randomly changed after publishing website.

3. Software Requirements and Prerequisites

You can install the core components of the system on the same server where you plan to host websites, or have one dedicated server for running the system (the core server) and publish websites on separate hosting servers.

Before installing, make sure that the following requirements for the core server and publishing servers are met.

Requirements for the Core Server

Minimum Hardware Requirements

  • 500 megabytes of free disk space for installation of the core components, plus at least 300 kilobytes per each hosted site.

  • 8 gigabytes of RAM.

Supported Operating Systems

Parallels Automation for Web Presence can be installed on the following operating systems:
  • CentOS 5.5-5.8, 6.0-6.2 (32-bit and 64-bit).

  • Debian 6.0 (32-bit and 64-bit).

Important: SELinux must be disabled.

Required Software Components

The following software components, which are not included into the distribution package, must be additionally installed:

  • Apache web server (apache2 package).

  • sw-engine package version 2.5 or later.

  • MySQL Server version 5.0 or later.

  • mod_fcgid. This is available from the Debian 6 repositories (called libapache2-mod-fcgid), but if you want to install on CentOS, you will need to obtain it from other third-party repositories, such as, for example, the Atomicorp repository.

Requirements for Publishing Servers

If you plan to host customers' sites on separate servers, ensure that the following requirements are met:

  • The servers are resolvable on the Internet: DNS settings are properly configured.

  • PHP version 5.2 or later is installed.

  • PHP supports:

    • Multibyte string functions (mbstring extension)

  • In php.ini, the following directive is set: default_charset = "UTF-8"


Supported Web Browsers

Parallels Automation for Web Presence supports the following browsers:

  • Internet Explorer versions 8 and 9.

  • Mozilla Firefox versions 3.6.x and 14.

  • Safari versions 4 and 5.

  • Google Chrome.

5. Known Problems and Limitations

  • If you specify an invalid username and password upon login to the license management area (https://<host_name>/License), you might be taken to a blank page.

  • After publishing of sites created in Safari or Opera, you might encounter some error messages in the web server's error log file. However, these errors do not affect the published websites' operability in any way.

  • When a site snapshot is created, its creation time is set according to the server's date and time.

  • Some editor pages, such as Dashboard and Design > Colors may not fit entirely the screens of monitors with low vertical resolution (such as 1280x800).

  • Safari users may encounter issues with posting comments on websites that use the Commenting module. This happens if "Authorization with a Facebook account" is selected by the webmasters in the module settings.
