The ntfs.sys driver on Windows 2003 and newer versions behaves differently depending on the version, which is why in some cases it is safe to install Microsoft Updates with the ntfs.sys driver included, and sometimes it is not. This article explains when it is possible to install such updates on Parallels Virtuozzo Containers for the Windows Hardware Node.

Windows 2003

On Windows 2003-based servers, ntfs.sys is not hooked in containers, which is why it is safe to install updates with the driver if they comply with the rest of requirements, described here:
113634 Microsoft Updates and Parallels Virtuozzo Containers for Windows

Windows 2008 and newer

On Windows 2008 and newer versions, ntfs.sys is hooked in containers, which means that PVCfW should have the driver whitelisted.

If the update with the ntfs.sys driver is not listed as supported, it is necessary to contact Parallels Technical Support regarding this update.
