Information in this article applies to Parallels Plesk Panel installations inside a Parallels Virtuozzo Containers (PVC) or Parallels Cloud Server (PCS) container that were installed using version-free EZ templates.

On July 24th, 2013, Parallels Plesk Panel 11.5 reached its Release tier milestone (see article #116510 for details). At the same time, version-free EZ templates (pp, pp-webmail, pp-nginx) were switched to version 11.5, which means the following:

  • Installing the pp version-free EZ template on a new container will install Plesk 11.5.

  • Updating a container that has the pp version-free EZ template installed using the vzpkg update CTID command will upgrade Plesk to 11.5.

  • Adding a component using a version-free EZ template (e.g., pp-nginx) will cause Plesk to upgrade to 11.5 inside the container.

To make the upgrade to 11.5 using version-free EZ templates go smoothly, update templates on the Hardware Node using "vzup2date -z" command (on Parallels Virtuozzo Containers node) or "yum update pp*-ez" command (on Parallels Cloud Server)  before running any upgrades.

It is also strongly recommended to add the template pp-bind after you are finished upgrading Plesk (if Plesk is installed in a container). Plesk 11.5 introduced an optional DNS server feature, and the DNS server should be installed explicitly. However, upgrading to Plesk 11.5 will not remove an already installed BIND DNS server.
