Symptoms

  1. Set burst CPU limit for container:
    [root@mypcs ~]# vzctl set 101  --cpulimit 100 --burst_cpulimit 10 --burst_cpu_avg_usage 70 --save
    Saved parameters for Container 101
    [root@mypcs ~]# vzlist 101 -o cpulimit
     CPULIM
        100
  2. Restart pva agent to apply settings:
    [root@mypcs ~]# pvaagent restart
    Shutting pvaagentd:                                        [  OK  ]
    Starting pvaagentd:                                        [  OK  ]
  3. Wait until burst cpu limit will be enabled:
  4. Check that limit was applied:
    [root@mypcs ~]# vzlist 101 -o cpulimit
     CPULIM
         10
  5. Restart pva agent one more time:
    [root@mypcs ~]# pvaagent restart
    Shutting pvaagentd:                                        [  OK  ]
    Starting pvaagentd:                                        [  OK  ]
  6. The limit is still applied and will not be changed back:
    vzlist 101 -o cpulimit
     CPULIM
         10

Resolution

Restart virtual environment to reset burst cpu limit:
[root@mypcs ~]# vzctl restart 101
