The backup operation fails with the following error:

~# vzabackup localhost -e 2343
Starting backup operation for node ''...
* Operation with the Container is started
* Operation with the Container is finished with errors: Master is not accessible.
Backup operation for node '' failed: Master is not accessible
Backup failed


The node is a slave in PVA group and the PVA master server is not accessible.


  1. Check if the node is master or slave using the command "vzagroup list":

    ~# vzagroup list
    Connecting to local host...
    Resolving host's group role...
    host is a slave in vzgroup, which master node address is
  2. Check if the master node is accessible from the local server with ping and telnet commands:

    ~# ping
    ~# telnet 4534

    Ensure that connections are not blocked on all ports needed for PVA MN and slave nodes.

  3. Make sure there is no discrepancy in major versions of PVA Agent and PVA Management Node. To check the version that is currently installed:

    ~# rpm -q pva-release
