Question

Is backup data encrypted during remote transfer?

Which protocol is used by vzabackup to transfer remote backups from one host to another?

Answer

Yes, backups are encrypted during transfer. The following can be found in the configuration file of PVA agent (/var/opt/pva/agent/etc/vzagent.conf):

<default_data_transfer>
<protocol>SSL</protocol>
<port>4435</port>
</default_data_transfer>

Port and protocol can be customized, by default SSL and ADH-AES256-SHA cipher are used for encryption.
