How can I update an OS EZ template without installing all the unused application EZ templates that come in a bundle with it?

It is possible in pseudo-graphical mode which will allow you to specify the packages you want to update. Please run the following command and you will enter into the graphical mode:

# vzup2date -z

Press "Next" and then you need to mark the OS template that needs to be updated and press "Customize". Then choose the packages that will be updated.

NOTE: After updating the EZ templates you need to update your cache with the command:

# vzpkg update cache <os_template_name>

New cache will be applied only to newly created containers. Updating cache will not affect old containers in any manner - there will be no downtime or interruption of services.
