Manually set permissions for the websites content folders ( 'C:\inetpub\vhosts\domain.tld\httpdocs') are being rewritten by Plesk during the installation of microupdates or permissions restoration.

This issue is a designed behavior of Plesk. It restores the default permissions to avoid security problems.

In order to customize permissions on the subscription folders, please use the following instructions. Example:

  1. Create an *.xml file with a Security rule entry. For example (security.xml):

    <Entry AccounType="1" Account="permtest" SidStr="S-1-5-21-3605394579-2105740411-1348980635-1070" Path="[HTTPD_VHOSTS_D]" SubPath="httpdocs" AceFlags="ThisFolderSubfoldersAndFiles" AccessMask="ReadWrite" EntryFlags="0x0" Tag="DomainUser" />
  2. Apply the changes to hosting accounts that you want to change object security rules for by running the HostingSecurity.exe utility:

    "%plesk_bin%\HostingSecurity.exe" --create-domain-security --vhost-name="" --file-name="C:\inetpub\vhosts\\httpdocs\security.xml" --user-name="permtest"
