Backup operation fails with error:
Backup operation for node 'test.node.com' failed: Failed to connect to backup server: Can't perform SSL connection: (null) Backup failed
In POA, VPS backup task fails with the similar error:
422 : Failed to connect to backup server: Can't perform SSL connection: (null)
The error means that it's impossible to establish connection on port 4434 between the hardware node (node where containers are running) and the backup node.
- Network is misconfigured or malfunctioning
- PVA installation is corrupted
- Resource shortage on the source server
- Server is unable to initialize structures necessary for SSL connection establishment
In order to fix this issue we recommend you to follow these troubleshooting steps:
Make sure both hosts can ping each other.
Check if PVA Agent ( VZAgent ) service is up and running on target PVC server, try to restart it.
Status can be checked using following command:
# pvaagent status
C:\> sc query pvaagent
Restart can be performed using following command:
# pvaagent restart
C:\> net stop pvaagent /Y && net start pvaagent
Make sure that ports necessary for PVA communication are open and both hosts can establish connection to these ports. Ports necessary for PVA communication are listed in the following article:
Check resources usage on the hardware node (the one where containers are running) - node should have free resources.
Make sure that SSL connection is possible:
Execute the command on the hardware node:
~# openssl s_client -connect <BACKUP_SERVER>:4434 -cipher ADH-AES256-SHA
