Symptoms

p2v migration of a Cloudlinux physical server fails with the following error:

    Detecting distribution...
Error: Vendor is redhat, but Version is not detected
Reconfiguration script failed with error: 1
    Failed to reconfigure virtual machine.

Cause

Cloudlinux is not a supported OS for p2v migration.

At the moment Parallels Transporter Agent supports only these Linux distributions as a physical source for migration.

Feature request PSBM-24123 for the support of Cloudlinux OS as a source server will be implemented in one of the future Parallels Cloud Server updates.

Workaround

Modify /etc/redhat-release to contain the corresponding version of CentOS. Since Cloudlinux is a RHEL-based OS, all CentOS migration scripts are applicable to it as well.

For example, if redhat-release on the server shows:

[root@source ~]# cat /etc/redhat-release
CloudLinux Server release 6.4

Modify it to:

[root@source ~]# cat /etc/redhat-release
CentOS release 6.4

And re-try the migration.

Modify the file back, when the migration is complete.
