An .iso image can be mounted inside the container the following way:

  1. Install any virtual drive emulating tool (i.e "Magic ISO", "DaemonTools" ,etc...) on the PVC node.
  2. Mount the .iso image on the node as a virtual drive
  3. Mount that virtual drive inside the container using vzctl mountext command.

For example, if the emulating tool mounts the .iso image as drive E: on the node, you can use the following command:

# vzctl mountext CTID --srcdir F: --dstdir E:


  • CTID is the id of the container
  • --srcdir is the full path to the drive/folder inside the Container where to mount the drive.
  • --dstdir is The full path to the drive on the Node (E: in our case)

Later the drive can be unmounted from the container using the following command:

# vzctl umountext CTID --srcdir F:
