It is not possible to change the system time inside the container:
~# date -s 'Wed Jan 22 16:06:21 NOVT 2015' date: cannot set date: Operation not permitted Thu Jan 22 16:06:21 NOVT 2015
Changing system time inside the container is prohibited by default, otherwise the changes will affect all the Containers and the server itself.
However, if you plan to synchronize the time via Network Time Protocol (NTP), it is recommended to do that by creating a dedicated container for that purpose.
For more information on how to configure such a container please check the following documentation:
- for Parallels Virtuozzo Containers 4.7
- for Parallels Server Bare Metal 5.0
- for Parallels Cloud Server 6.0
For instructions on how to change the default system time zone inside the container please check this article.
