Question

How can I disable OpenVSwitch on Parallels Cloud Server?

Answer

  1. Disable the service.

    # chkconfig openvswitch off

  2. Remove "ovs" lines from ifcfg-eth[1234] files and reconfigure them with the necessary info from ifcfg-br-eth[1234] files :

    [root@pcs ~]# cat /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-br-eth1
    DEVICE="br-eth1"
    BOOTPROTO="none"
    DEFROUTE="yes"
    DEVICETYPE="ovs"
    IPADDR="192.168.10.31"
    IPV4_FAILURE_FATAL="yes"
    IPV6INIT="no"
    NAME=""System eth1""
    NM_CONTROLLED=""yes""
    ONBOOT="yes"
    PREFIX="16"
    SLAVE="yes"
    TYPE="OVSBridge"

    [root@pcs ~]# cat /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1
    DEVICE="eth1"
    DEVICETYPE="ovs"
    HWADDR="54:04:A6:41:86:C4"
    ONBOOT="yes"
    OVS_BRIDGE="br-eth1"
    TYPE="OVSPort"

    The resulting ifcfg-eth1 will be :

    BOOTPROTO="none"
    DEFROUTE="yes"
    DEVICE="eth1"
    HWADDR="54:04:A6:41:86:C4"
    IPADDR="192.168.10.31"
    IPV4_FAILURE_FATAL="yes"
    IPV6INIT="no"
    NAME="System eth1"
    NM_CONTROLLED="yes"
    ONBOOT="yes"
    PREFIX="16"
    TYPE="Ethernet"

  3. Remove the br* configuration files :

    # rm -f /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-br-eth[1234]

  4. Reboot the node.

  5. Remove the openvswitch RPM :

    # rpm -e openvswitch
