Backup creation fails with following symptoms:

[root@pcs ~]# vzabackup localhost -e 100500
Warning: You are using a deprecated utility that will be dropped in the next major release. Please use prlctl backup instead.

PVA Agent translates CTID into EID using data stored in /var/opt/pva/agent/etc/configs/ directory. Compare container's eid from that directory with with eid.conf contents from container's directory:

[root@pcs ~]# grep 100500 /var/opt/pva/agent/etc/configs/*
[root@pcs ~]# grep . /vz/private/100500/.vza/eid.conf
[root@pcs ~]#

In the output above you can see eids are different. In result PVA Agent attempts to backup non-existing environment with eid 907071c0-a3d8-bb4f-a26e-90f0dc8adb98.

There are several ways to solve the issue:

  1. Restart PVA Agent (on restart PVA Agent will recreate contents of config directory):

    [root@pcs ~]# pvaagent restart
  2. Rename corresponding file in configs directory to reflect correct eid:

    [root@pcs ~]# cd /var/opt/pva/agent/etc/configs/
    [root@pcs configs]# mv 907071c0-a3d8-bb4f-a26e-90f0dc8adb98 636b1bd2-c8c4-7943-b544-1fc13b0ace10
