Disk space usage is reported incorrectly inside a container, df -h shows wrong amount of used space than the container actually occupiess. Example:

[root@vz ~]# du -sh /vz/root/821
636M /vz/root/821

[root@pvclinux64 ~]# vzctl exec 821 df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/vzfs 50G 46G 3.5G 92% /
none 512M 4.0K 512M 1% /dev
none 512M 0 512M 0% /dev/shm

vzquota stat also shows wrong disk usage for the container even after its restart.

vzquota may get hung for some containers and should be reinitialized completely.

  1. Stop the container:

    # vzctl stop $CTID
  2. Drop the quota file:

    # vzquota drop $CTID
  3. Check that quota file was removed from the container's private area:

    # ls -l /vz/private/$CTID/quota.fs
  4. After container startup vzquota should be reinitialized and the correct values should be displayed.

    # vzctl start $CTID
