  • Applies to:
  • Virtuozzo 6.0
  • Virtuozzo containers for Linux 4.7
  • Virtuozzo hypervisor

Symptoms

  • A fresh Virtuozzo/Virtuozzo containers installation without any virtual environments experiences high load average.
  • There are no processes sitting in D state.
  • Rebooting to the native RHEL/CentOS kernel decreases the load average almost to zero.

Cause

The situation is going to be improved in one of the future releases within the internal request PSBM-16366.

Resolution

Disable periodic timer event called "the timer tick" by adding 'nohz=off' entry as kernel boot option:

# grubby --update-kernel=ALL --args="nohz=off"
