MSSQL server 2005 does not start with the following error:

    Error: 1802, Severity: 16, State: 4.
CREATE DATABASE failed. Some file names listed could not be created. Check related errors.
    Error: 5123, Severity: 16, State: 1.
CREATE FILE encountered operating system error 5(Access is denied.) while attempting to open or create the physical file 'c:\Program Files (x86)\Parallels\Plesk\Databases\MSSQL\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\DATA\tempdb.mdf'.
Could not create tempdb. You may not have enough disk space available. Free additional disk space by deleting other files on the tempdb drive and then restart SQL Server. Check for additional errors in the event log that may indicate why the tempdb files could not be initialized.

SQL Server service account does not have any longer permissions to access the database files or write files.

  1. Check account name under Services.msc-> SQL Server service.

  2. Check if this account has write permissions to c:\Program Files (x86)\Parallels\Plesk\Databases\MSSQL\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\DATA\ or other path mentioned in error. Assign read/write/modify permission SQL server service account to the mentioned folder.
