Symptoms

The following error message can be seen as part of the pre-login prompt:

                                    ERROR!

Failed to install the PVA products. Please see the /var/log/messages
log file for details.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cause

Upon failed PVA Agent installation this error message is written to /etc/issue file. The error notification is not removed from /etc/issue file upon the subsequent successfull PVA Agent installation.

Resolution

To permanently delete this message from /etc/issue implement the following changes:

  1. Delete or rename /tmp/error_msg file

    ~# mv /tmp/error_msg /tmp/error_msg-old
    
  2. Manually modify the /etc/issue to remove the error notification:

    ~# vi /etc/issue
    

The behavior is recognized as product issue PVA-34071. The automatic removal of the error notification after the successfull PVA Agent installation will be uncluded in one of the product updates.
