  1. Remote MySQL database is registered in Plesk. MYSQL admin password contains '&' (ampersand) symbol.
  2. When we create a domain backup in Plesk GUI the following error message appears.

        Error: mysql "testdb"
Cannot connect to mysql remote_mysql_server.tld:3306 (database 'testdb')

In Mysql logs:

failed: Access denied for user 'test'@'' (using password: YES) at /usr/local/psa/PMM/agents/shared/Db/ line 44

Mysql admin password contains '&' (ampersand) symbol. Internal issue with id #141662 reported to Service Team, the fix will be included in next Plesk updates.

  1. Set Mysql admin's password without ampersand symbol in Home -> Tools And Settings -> Database Servers -> Server_name.

  2. Make sure tha password is updated with the following command:

    /usr/local/psa/bin/sw-engine-pleskrun /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/api-cli/database-registrar.php --get-credentials remote_mysql_server.tld:3306 -type mysql
