Question

Is it possible to browse/restore separate files or folders from the Virtual Machine/Ploop Container backup using PVA or command line?

Answer

Starting from Parallels Cloud Server 6.0 Update 7 it is possible to attach backup as a block device to the Virtual Machines and Ploop Containers in order to restore separate files and folders.

This feature was implemented in scope of PSBM-21999.

To read the contents of a Virtual Machine or Ploop Container backup, you can attach it to a Virtual Machine or Ploop Container as a virtual hard disk.

# prlctl set <$VE_NAME> --backup-add <$BACKUP_UUID> --disk <$DISK_NAME.hdd.tib>
