Symptoms

Attempt to migrate a container #12345 ct12345.company.org from a PCS node to a PVC 4.7 server hwn1.company.org fails with the following output:

~# pmigrate c ct12345.company.org c hwn1.company.org
root@hwn1.company.org's password:
Moving/copying CT#12345 -> CT#12345, [], [] ...
CT layout (5) does not supported on destination node
Can't move/copy CT#12345 -> CT#12345, [], [] : CT layout (5) does not supported on destination node

Cause

PVC 4.7 does not support Ploop-based (layout 5) containers, the support presents in PCS only.

Resolution

In the long-term, the feature request PCLIN-32415 has been placed to consider the possibility of hosting Ploop-based containers on PVC 4.7 nodes.

Meanwhile, the following ways are possible to proceed with the migration:

  1. Use a PCS server as a destination server in the migration procedure.
  2. If it is necessary to move the container to a PVC 4.7 node, use vzp2v tool or run "Migrate Server to Container" task in PVA to migrate the container in physical-to-virtual mode.
