Cause

Once the kernel detects protocol error, the module tries to perform reset of the connected device to reestablish proper communication channel.

When the device is reset and starts to answer requests properly, it is detected and re-registered in the system, and the appropriate messages are written to the system log files.

Resolution

This is more likely to be checked on hardware level than something to check from the kernel side: protocol communication errors are the signs of the device/cable malfunction - in this particular case, the iDRAC was inoperable for some time.

The further clarifications should be requested from the hardware vendor.
