Virtual machine with a routed network adapter and enabled Offline Management loses network after live migration.

On a virtual machine registration after migration, the process of Parallels Dispatcher enables redirection for Offline Management to access Power Panel, creating routes with metric 256 for VM's IP address is performed before bringing up the virtual machine from the saved dump. Then routes for IP addresses of a VM through its interface are not created because they are with the same metric 256.

This behavior is recognized as product bug with internal ID PSBM-27454.

The permanent fix is included in Virtuozzo 6.0 Update 7 (6.0.7-2195).

If for some reason installing updates is not an option, there are several ways to avoid the issue:

  • Turn off offline management for the VM before migration:

~# prlctl set "VM Name" --offline_management no
  • Change network settings for VM after migration (for example, change network mask).
  • Migrate VM offline.
  • Use bridged network adapter instead of routed.
