Cause

Some application is frequently crashing but is unable to save a core dump via abrt-hook-ccpp library.

Resolution

1) Prevent abrtd daemon from autostart:

# chkconfig abrtd off

2) Create a new directory to store the core dumps:

# mkdir /vz/cores
# chmod a+rwx /vz/cores

3) Set the core pattern to point to a core file:

# echo "kernel.core_pattern = /vz/cores/core.%e.%p.%u.%t" >> /etc/sysctl.conf

4) Reload sysctl settings:

# sysctl -p

5) Stop the abrt daemon:

# /etc/init.d/abrtd stop
Stopping abrt daemon: [ OK ]

After such reconfiguration any newly created core dumps will be saved to /vz/cores folder
