Apache does not recognize national charset in files with accents in the filename, so images are not displayed on a web page. However, files already exist on the server. For example, character à is shown as

UTF-8 support is not configured.

  1. Open Apache configuration file '/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf'
  2. Find AddDefaultCharset directive and set it to UTF-8, so the directive would look like:

    AddDefaultCharset UTF-8
  3. Restart Apache

Note: Please follow instructions from KB 118969 to configure ProFTPD to handle files with accents and other national characters in their names.
