Question

The Virtual Machine hangs. How can I stop it?

Answer

  1. Use "prlctl stop VM_NAME --kill" command.
  2. VM can be stopped by killing it's process:

    • Check the UUID of the VM:

      # prlctl list MyVM
      UUID STATUS IP_ADDR T NAME
      {78d11ba8-cac7-4e2e-8f7b-3cc52836bf23} running 10.20.30.40 VM MyVM

    • Find out the PID of the VM process:

      # ps ax | grep 78d11ba8-cac7-4e2e-8f7b-3cc52836bf23
       548474 ? Sl 131:48 /usr/lib64/parallels-server/prl_vm_app --uuid {78d11ba8-cac7-4e2e-8f7b-3cc52836bf23} --dir-uuid {3e9b9b89-f7af-42f9-b363-ecf1bdd307fd} --mode ps

    • Kill the process:

      # kill -9 548474
