The virtual machine cannot be restored from the backup, the following error message is displayed:

# prlctl restore f170a109-2397-42c7-955b-21174b6600d5 -t ecd93b7a-7646-44be-8382-bf817be39494
Failed to get VM config: The virtual machine could not be found. The virtual machine is not registered in the virtual machine directory on this server. Contact your Parallels Server administrator for assistance.

The backup itself is listed properly:

# prlctl backup-list
                                ID Backup_ID Node Date Type Size
{f170a109-2397-42c7-955b-21174b6600d5} {ecd93b7a-7646-44be-8382-bf817be39494} pcs.node 10/21/2013 07:23:29     f   23288602591

The virtual machine (which should be restored) is not registered on the server (for example, the original VM got deleted. Or the VM was never registered on this node and the backup was moved from another location).

Use the Backup_ID of the backup and "-t" option to restore it:

# prlctl restore -t ecd93b7a-7646-44be-8382-bf817be39494
Restore the backup {ecd93b7a-7646-44be-8382-bf817be39494}
restore hdd.0 progress: 100%
The VM has been restored.
