"Activate windows" watermark is displayed on desktop even though Windows is activated
The problem is recognized as product issue PCWIN-21682
It is possible to suppress this watermark by launching
slmgr.vbs -ato every couple of hours on the node and inside of all containers. This implies that the node and containers are activated with KMS service.
IMPORTANT: Workaround is not applicable for non KMS installations of Windows as it will consume all the activations.
The KEY type should be GVLK for KMS clients
KMS server address can be configured for containers via DNS or by adding the line
vzctl exec2 --skiplock %VPSID% slmgr -skms <KMS SERVER ADDRESS>
to vz-poststart.cmd script
To achieve permanent effect a scheduled task for 'slmgr.vbs -ato' can be created.
Here is the example of how to create scheduled task for container ID 100 that runs
slmgr.vbs -ato every hour:
C:\Users\Administrator>vzctl exec 100 cmd /c "Schtasks /create /sc HOURLY /tn WMRemove /tr "slmgr.vbs -ato" /mo 1 /ru System" SUCCESS: The scheduled task "WMRemove" has successfully been created. Command 'exec' is successfully finished
