  • Applies to:
  • Virtuozzo 6.0
  • Virtuozzo containers for Linux 4.6
  • Virtuozzo containers for Windows
  • Virtual Automation

Symptom

In PVA MN Resource Commitments shows "Unlimited" for Parallels Virtuozzo Containers node.

How can it be corrected?

Cause

Memory value in "Resource commitments" in PVA would display "Unlimited" if one of the containers on the node has unlimited vprvmem (Windows) or physpages, swappages (Linux).

vprvmem

The size of private or potentially private memory that can be allocated to all applications inside the Container, in megabytes. Shared or potentially shared memory (e.g., memory mapped files) is not included in this resource parameter.

physpages

The total size of RAM used by processes, in 4-KB pages.

swappages

The amount of swap space that can be used by the Container for swapping out memory once the RAM is exceeded, in 4-KB pages.

Resolution

Make sure all containers have the barrier value of memory settings:

Windows:

> C:\Users\Administrator>vzlist -ao ctid,vprvmem.b

Linux:

# vzlist ctid -ao physpages.b,swappages.b

If any container does not have the memory limit, it can be set with:

Windows:

> C:\Users\Administrator>vzctl set CTID --vprvmem 1024

Linux:

# vzctl set CTID --physpages 65536 --swappages 65536
