Symptoms

Linux guest VM remains frozen after migration, however, prlctl list indicates this VM as running.

In virtual machine log the following errors are logged:

~# grep "The invariant clock source differs from the legacy by" /var/parallels/parallelstest.pvm/parallels.log
1206:The invariant clock source differs from the legacy by -30001
2224:The invariant clock source differs from the legacy by -30002
16197:The invariant clock source differs from the legacy by -30001
53922:The invariant clock source differs from the legacy by -30001
57992:The invariant clock source differs from the legacy by -30002
169990:The invariant clock source differs from the legacy by -30001

Cause

Under certain circumstances, virtual machine with a Linux guest OS could hang after successful migration. The issue is recognized as a product bug with internal ID #PSBM-31448.

Solution

The issue was permanently fixed in PCS6.0 Update 8 Hotfix 8. Install all pending updates to avoid hangs after migration.

The only way to unlock a hanging VM is to reset it:

# prlctl reset <VM_Name>
