One site in particular, for example http://domain.tld/ used to have a DB connection to old web server via IP If edit the web.config file back to this it works fine. However the site is not load by changing it to use the local system .\MSSQLSERVER2014 or a variation of this.

Additionally, attempt to connect to the SQL server via 'SQL Server Management Studio' is failed with "Cannot open user default database. Login failed" error message.


SQL user was created as "SQL user without login"


  1. Add new database user or remove exiting one and recreate it via Home > Subscriptions > domain.tld > Databases
  2. Modify connection string in the web.config accordingly.
