  • Virtuozzo containers for Windows

Currently, Windows Server 2003 R2 provides new features but does not alter or change the pre-exisitng functionality of Windows Server 2003 with SP1. This allows the coexistence of VEs with and without R2 possible on an R2 powered Virtuozzo Host.

For example, the following is true for a machine running Windows Server 2003 R2 and Virtuozzo:
  • Windows Server 2003 SP1 VEs can be created
  • Windows Server 2003 R2 VEs can be created (NOTE: the R2 template was previously installed)

In this manner, the migration of a Windows Server 2003 SP1 VE is possible between 2 physical servers, even one of them does not have R2 installed.
