Symptoms

To move containers from the one disk to another disk, use the following instructions.

Resolution

If you would like to change the default "vz" directory location, complete the following steps:

Parallels Virtuozzo Containers 6.0 and 4.6

  1. Change Virtuozzo backup location.

  2. Change startup type to "Disabled" for Parallels Virtuozzo Containers Management Service, Parallels Virtuozzo Containers Kernel Abstraction Layer Service, and Parallels VZFS Database Service.

  3. Reboot the node.

  4. Move the "vz" directory to the new destination (e.g. from c:\vz to d:\vz).

  5. Change the following registry value to the corresponding path (e.g. from c:\vz to d:\vz ):

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SWSoft\Virtuozzo\VZROOT

Note: for x64, also change it in the following path:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SWSoft\Virtuozzo\VZROOT

  6. Adjust the following registry value to point PVA configuration directory to the new path:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Parallels\PVA\agent\configdir

  7. Change startup type of Parallels Virtuozzo Containers Management Service to "Automatic."

  8. Change startup type of Parallels Virtuozzo Containers Kernel Abstraction Layer and Parallels VZFS Database Service services to "Manual."

  9. Reboot the node.

Parallels Virtuozzo Containers 4.0 and 4.5

  1. Change Virtuozzo backup location.

  2. Change startup type to "Disabled" for Virtuozzo Management service, Virtuozzo KSAL service, and VZFS Database service.

  3. Reboot the node.

  4. Move the "vz" directory to the new destination (e.g. from c:\vz to d:\vz).

  5. Change the following registry value to the corresponding path (e.g. from c:\vz to d:\vz ):

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SWSoft\Virtuozzo\VZROOT

Note: for x64, also change it in the following path:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SWSoft\Virtuozzo\VZROOT

  6. Change startup type of Virtuozzo Management Service to "Automatic."

  7. Change startup type of Virtuozzo KSAL and VZFS Database services to "Manual."

  8. Reboot the node.

Virtuozzo 3.5.1

  5. Change the follwing registry values to the corresponding path (e.g. from c:\vz to d:\vz ):

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SWSoft\Virtuozzo\LOGDIR
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SWSoft\Virtuozzo\VZROOT
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SWSoft\VZUpdates\Log

Note: for x64, also check the following paths:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SWSoft\Virtuozzo
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment\VZ_ROOTDIR

  6. Change startup type of Virtuozzo Management Service to "Automatic."

  7. Change startup type of Virtuozzo KSAL and VZFS Database services to "Manual."

  8. Reboot the node.

Note: if you have PVA Agent installed on the server you should also correct path settings for it:

  1. Change backup location to D:\vz\backups in following keys:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SWsoft\Virtuozzo\Backup\BackupFolde
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SWsoft\Virtuozzo\Backup\BackupFolder

  2. Change path to the PVA Data folder to D:\vz\PVA\Agent\Data in

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Parallels\PVA\agent\CONFIGDIR

  3. Update pva.conf with the new location of D:\vz\PVA folder. You can locate pva.conf by querying the PVA Agent service binary path:

C:\>sc qc pvaagent | findstr BINARY
            BINARY_PATH_NAME : C:\Program Files (x86)\Parallels\Parallels Virtual Automation\Agent\bin\pvaagentd.exe pva.conf

In this case pva.conf is located in the same place as pvaagentd.exe - in C:\Program Files (x86)\Parallels\Parallels Virtual Automation\Agent\bin\
