Symptoms

I am unable to attach a backup storage device even when I use the proper login credentials. Using the SMB (Server Message Block) protocol, I can access the storage device.

When I try to set default backup storage I get the following error:

vzbackup storage -a \\192.168.45.69\backup -u login -p password
failed: Failed connection to \\192.168.45.69\backup; user 192.168.45.69\login; error 1326

When I go to the Event Viewer Security log, I see the following entry:

Event Type: Success Audit
Event Source: Security
Event Category: Logon/Logoff
Event ID: 552
Date: 20.09.2006

Note:
The login credentials which was used with vzbackup utility was different than the
ones listed in the Event Viewer.

Cause

In most cases, the reason is that the cached login credentials used by the “vzbackup” utility are cached.

Resolution

In order to clear the cache, you would restart the Workstation service.
