As part of the Parallels Virtuozzo Containers (PVC) installation, the following registry key and values are set to point our servers only to where approved Microsoft Updates are available:



Starting from Parallels Virtuozzo Containers 4.0, it is possible to configure VUS (Virtuozzo Update Service, which provides with the same functionality as WSUS, but for PVC updates).

To achieve it, stop Parallels Virtuozzo Update Service first:

net stop vzupsvc

The following registry values should be changed:


Where {GUID} can be one of the following:

  • {46562BA0-B13A-40D5-97E2-41C43196D29B} for PVCfW updates

    Default value is

  • {BD16A5A6-CCEB-4C4F-A5CC-0E2006FF4D29} for PMC updates

    Default value is

  • {D46155BA-B3F4-4BB6-A421-FA4FB59F9186} for PVCfW Dispatcher updates

    Default value is

Start Virtuozzo Update Service:

net start vzupsvc

It can be configured through GUI as well. To do this, run the Virtuozzo Update Wizard and go to Proxy Settings.

Note: If a PVC server is a member of the Active Directory domain, it is strongly recommended that you configure group policies to exclude the server from applying the domain's WSUS settings.
