How to get or change server hostname on a Plesk server?

The hostname on the Plesk server can be changed:

  1. Through GUI

    1.1. Go to:

    • Server > Server preferences for version 8.x
    • Settings > Server settings for version 9.x
    • Tools & Settings > Server Settings for version 10 and later

1.2. Fill in the Full hostname field.

    1.3. Click OK.

  2. Using CLI for Plesk 12.0.18 and later:

    # plesk bin server_pref --update -hostname
    # plesk bin server_pref -u -hostname

Plesk will update its database and all needed configuration files, such as /etc/hosts, /etc/sysconfig/network, /var/qmail/control/me, etc.

Also, the current hostname can be taken from the console using the hostname command, e.g.:

[root@server ~]# hostname

Search Words

reboot /etc/hosts

reboot /etc/hosts
