According to Microsoft, when using Network Load Balancing, it is necessary to connect the NICs to a separate switch to keep the broadcasts (multi-cast packets) local to the servers and not flood the main core network. When setting up the switch, the Physical/VE NIC will ask whether the packets from a VE are tagged or untagged. How does the VZ adapter “know” how to send the packets to the correct VE?

Virtuozzo does not tag/untag packets; this should be done by the physical VLAN adapter. Virtuozzo provides the correct binding to the correct adapter. If the adapter is configured as tagged, outgoing packets will be tagged as well.
